Awards

Each year, the Bob White Lodge presents a number of awards to recognize Arrowmen who have given outstanding services to the lodge and the Order of the Arrrow. Each award is presented at the annual Winter Banquet.

Award recipients are chosen based on service and dedication to the lodge and Order. The lodge’s Award Selection Subcommittee meets each fall to choose and discuss the lists of those eligible and deserving of award recognition. Arrowmen may make nominations using the form below. Included in this form are the lists of different awards and a fill-in box to include a description for why an Arrowmen deserves award recognition.

Award nominations for the 2020 Winter Banquet are now closed! Nominations will open up again during the summer season of 2020.

Award Nomination Form

Rucker Newberry Service Award – This award is presented in honor of the founder of the Bob White Lodge, Chief Newberry, who presented the award first in 1977 and is given annually to one youth and one adult for outstanding service to the lodge. In recognition of this honor, recipients receive a commemorative plaque the hand-crafted Newberry award medal handed down to each year’s new recipients.

Founders Award – This award is presented in honor of the original founders of the Order of the Arrow in recognition of those who have rendered outstanding service to the lodge and Order over an extended period of time. The award is presented annually to one youth and one adult recipient who are recognized with a commemorative certificate and Founders Award plaque with the OA founders displayed on the front.

Arrowman of the Year – This award is presented to one youth Arrowman annually who has rendered outstanding service during their tenure as a member of the OA. This award is not judged by tenure within the OA, but in recognition of extensive service during their tenure in the Order.

Spirit Award – A newer award within the lodge, the Spirit Award is presented to one youth Arrowman who has demonstrated the Spirit of Cheerfulness in Service within the Order and Scouting. All youth Arrowmen are eligible for this award, no matter their tenure within the OA.

James E. West Fellowship Award – Every year, the Bob White Lodge donates $1,000 to the Council’s Endowment Fund as a part of its support to the council. This authorizes the lodge to receive a James E. West Foundation Award. This award is given to an Arrowman who has given outstanding service to the lodge and the Order. Unlike an individual James E. West application, the honoree does not donate the $1,000 himself. The donation is made from lodge funds and the lodge confers the award on the recipient. The honoree is recognized with a commemorative James E. West Fellowship certificate, lapel pin, and knot to be worn on their BSA uniform.
